This term we have had lots of opportunities to develop our gross and fine motor skills which are essential for writing. We have loved our ribbon dancing where we have been making circles, lines, zig-zags, up and down and across movements on a large scale to music. We have also had lots of opportunities to explore play dough, gloop and foam, threading and mark making on a small and large scale to develop our fine motor skills. In the writing area, we have been mark making linked to our weekly themes and some of us have been learning to write our names to go on our pictures.

Today marks a very special day in our calendar as it is National Poetry Day. Across school, all our children will be taking part in learning linked to poetry, right from Nursery working on Nursery Rhymes to Year 6 recreating Jabberwocky on the Green Screen! We have so many wonderful activities planned, which include both reading and writing poetry. Teachers will enjoy sharing some of their favourite poems before our children get hands on creating their own wonderful writing, Our writing will take all forms, with some of our children heading outdoors to gather ideas practically as their stimulus for writing. We can't wait to see this wonderful work throughout school in the coming weeks!
