Autumn 1 in Team EO

In writing, the Reception children have worked really hard this half term learning how to form letters correctly. We have used the Read Write Inc letter formation rhymes to help us. We have then been applying our knowledge when writing in provision using our ‘Fred Fingers’ to help us write all the sounds in the word.
Year 1 children started the year by recapping using their ‘Fred Fingers’ to ensure they are writing all the sounds in the words. Children labelled pictures, wrote lists and wrote captions about models they had made. We have progressed to writing in sentences, working hard to ensure we use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We have learnt how to use ‘exclamation marks’ and have worked hard to include these in our superhero character descriptions. The Year 1 pupils have also learnt about how conjunctions are used to join two sentences together.
