Autumn 1 in Team JD

This half term, Team JD have been working really hard to develop their skills in writing. We have spent time completing work linked to our themed book, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and other related texts. We explored different themes used by various authors and used grammatical devices such as expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and adverbs in our writing in order to create an atmospheric setting. We worked on our use of the five senses as well as beginning to explore what prepositions are and how these can add detail to our writing. During poetry week, we have created our own poems linked to a topic of the pupil’s choice. For this, we looked at the structure of poems as well as the different purposes and types of poetry.
