This half term, Team AC have been continuing to develop and acquire new skills linked to writing. We have worked on a variety of different writing tasks which has allowed us to develop these skills. We have written poems linked to bonfire night, focusing particularly on descriptive language and onomatopoeia. We also wrote seasonal poems with emphasis on the use of vocabulary as well as finding how to use similes for our monster poems. After reading the book ‘A Planet full of Plastic’, we focused on non-fiction texts. We began by looking at how these are organised and the features that are found in them. We developed our understanding of the language used and how we could use this language to produce a persuasive piece of writing in the form of a letter to the world warning them of the dangers of plastic use. We worked hard to include different forms of sentences including statements, commands, questions and exclamations.
