Summer 2 - Team CH

In Writing this half term, Team CH have focused on using their text driver Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, to write a short narrative based on the chapters Down the Rabbit Hole or Advice from a Caterpillar. To introduce their writing, the children were shown a picture of a mysterious hole and encouraged to discuss questions such as, "Where does this lead?" They worked with a talk partner to build and share their ideas and developed their own imaginative settings before writing these independently. Finally, the mystery was revealed through a short video clip, introducing the children to Alice's journey down the rabbit hole. The class then spent time exploring the original text and becoming familiar with the vocabulary, while revisiting previously taught skills such as using inverted commas, apostrophes for possession, and fronted adverbials. Time was spent discussing exciting vocabulary that could be used to set the scene as they moved Alice through the chapter. This inspired Team CH to write their own short narratives.
