Team AC love their art! The children have produced some amazing artwork this term so far. They have looked at how we can develop our drawing skills by looking at how portraits can be changed from simple line drawings to more detailed work by adding shade, tone and colour. The children have also been introduced to the artist of the term, Barbara Hepworth. They found out who she was and why she was famous. They learnt about the type of art she created and talked about which pieces of her work they liked. They gave reasons for their choice and said what they thought each piece looked like. The children then made their own sculpture and said what was the same and what was different about their work and Barbara Hepworth's work. We've also managed to link our artwork to our history topic - looking at life in prehistoric times. The children found out about how Stone Age people communicated their ideas through cave drawings. They learnt how important these drawings were as evidence of the past. They then had a go at creating their own drawings.
