This week in team CH, we have moved onto Unit Five of our maths learning. The children have had the opportunity to ensure they have a sense of sequence and synchronicity in counting from zero to ten. Children were presented with a range of concrete objects within the number set six to ten. Children were asked to count the objects and record the numeral to show the quantity in each example.
Adults provided lots of opportunity for children to embed the cardinality principle by repeatedly using the stem sentence ' one, two three... there are three objects. Finally, children where given access to the number names to refer to for spelling and adult highlighted the challenge of spelling the number name 'eight' to pupils.
