To link in with this week's learning about the life cycle of the butterfly, our book of the week is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. Today we have read the story together and also watched a Makaton signed version on our interactive whiteboard so we can learn to say and sign the words. We have been saying and signing caterpillar and butterfly and have also clapped out the syllables to support our speech development. Our provision activities so far this week include: -moulding and shaping our play dough to create butterflies -exploring our minibeast small world area -working together to complete some tricky jigsaws of the life cycle -exploring shape butterflies in our water area -developing our fine motor skills by using tweezers to pick up and sort different shaped pasta which represents the different parts of the life cycle. -reading lots of stories and information books about caterpillars, butterflies and other minibeasts
