Maths
This week the children moved on from exploring 2d shapes and into 3d. To begin with, we spoke about the word 3d and what it meant. Here we gained a better understanding of the difference between 2d and 3d. From this, the children were introduced to a range of shapes. They spoke about similarities with familiar 2d ones and also objects made from the chosen shape. As our learning progressed we completed a matching activity with a partner to pair up the shape to its name. As well as this, the children tested their knowledge with a competitive game of ‘snap’ using the cards and a fastest pair to hold up the shape I called. This was a great start to building on their knowledge of 3d shapes. Literacy This week we started our new unit of learning. We decided as we LOVED our previous text 'The Big Book of the Blue' we wanted to continue exploring the ocean and sea creatures. We decided to take a closer look at the ocean, began exploring the conditions of the sea and how plastic is having an impact on the animals. From this, we created posters outlining the problems sea pollution may cause and began thinking of how we could help! PE This week we started our new unit of indoor PE - Cheerleading. To begin with, we discussed this and watched clips of cheers, movements and stances. After that, we went into the hall to carry out our initial assessment before our learning takes place.
