Team SG has had an incredible six weeks, and I'm so impressed with the team's enthusiasm and resilience! Team SG has been hard at work since the beginning of September, getting to know their surroundings and pushing themselves to do their absolute best. Every single member of SG has been a credit to Park Street.
We have been working hard in Maths to improve our understanding of place value, adding numbers efficiently, number bonds to 10, and exploring the composition of 100. We used practical tools like Base 10 and place value counters to understand how numbers are represented and how this may aid us in our calculations. SG has also worked extremely hard in literacy to create some wonderful biographies of Roald Dahl, our brilliant class author, to share with visitors at our school. Now, the class is hard at work creating imaginative stories based on the same structure as 'The Enormous Crocodile' and their very own villains. I cannot wait to see what wonderful stories they all come up with! Next week, we'll look at similes and how we can use them to enhance our stories. We have also jumped right into our new History topic, The Stone Age. We began by learning about chronology and how significant historical periods are portrayed on a timeline. We have also conducted our own artifact dig and explored the challenges of being an archaeologist as well as what different objects can tell us about life in the past. This term's science topic is light. We started by exploring what light is and why we need it to see. We then undertook a collaborative investigation to establish the direction of light travel. As part of our enquiry focus on pattern-seeking, we will examine shadows the next week to determine if there are noticeable trends in the shape and size of shadows. Keep it up Team SG!
