Well done to all of our boys and girls who took part in the Barnsley Sports Academy ECM cluster competition for Years 5 and 6. Both teams contributed up an enormous amount of effort and showed excellent teamwork.
The girls had one loss, two draws, and two victories. The boys advanced to the Barnsley Finals by winning all of their games. The way that both teams played during the event has made the entire school immensely proud of them. Fantastic work, everyone!

A massive shout out to the Year 5/6 Girls Football Team who played a match against Kings Oak Primary Learning Centre last week.
The girls performed amazingly, coming out with a 7-1 win. We are all so proud of them! This was some of the children's last match representing Park Street. It was great to have parents/carers watching along with some of the other year groups. It was a friendly and fun atmosphere. Well done Girls! The return of our yearly sporting events is next week. We have chosen to deliver this in the same manner as last year. The feedback was excellent!
Each team will take part on their own sports day. Every child in the school will participate in every race. There are roughly six races for every child to have a go at. The pupils have put so much effort into getting ready for the day over the past few weeks. They are eagerly anticipating the day when parents and other carers will be able to attend and support their children. This week some of our year 4 children attended a dodgeball competition at Barnsley Academy Secondary School. Five other schools from the local area were also in attendance. The Park Street team did themselves proud!
This competition was part of a participation event. Therefore, the results at the end were not announced. The children at Park Street love dodgeball and it was great to see some of our pupils working together. The pupils' attitude from start to finish was brilliant. Well done all! Our sporty after school clubs for this term are KS 2 Multi skills every Monday.
We are delighted to offer a brand new club this term, on Wednesdays Mr smith and Mrs Akyel will be running girl's football training sessions for years 4, 5 and 6. Both clubs will run from 3:15-4:15. We look forward to delivering lots of different activities at our sporty after school clubs. Each class has been working hard on their topics in PE! Whether it is indoor or outdoor, the children are incredibly excited when it is their PE day. It is great to see everyone working hard. We are consistently seeing less and less children forgetting their PE kit, this is brilliant news!
The children are learning new skills, working as a team whilst developing physically, mentally and socially. We will keep pushing right up until Christmas. After Christmas a new topic will await each class. Our year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a football fixture against High View. We are really proud of every single one of them. Even though the boys didn't get the result we wanted and the girls narrowly missed out on a win. They all worked their socks and put in a great shift.
Park Street Boys 1 High View Boys 3 Park Street Girls 4 High View Girls 4 It was great to see so many people supporting both games. well done to everyone involved! Mr Smith Our first sporting competition will be a football league for this academic year will be for our year 5/6 pupils. Our first match is this Thursday against High View. The matches will take place on our school field.
A team has been selected for both the boys and girls, the children know that they have to follow the school rules if they would like to stay in the selected teams. Good luck to all involved! Mr Smith The children once again have done us all really proud! Everyone has done amazing in their class sports day. Some of the activities included running race, obstacle race, sack race, egg and spoon. Every class then finished with the relay race.
We found the system worked incredibly well. We wanted every child to have a go at each activity. We found the best way to do this would be doing each sports day in classes. We have had incredibly positive feedback from parents/guardians! A huge thank you to everyone for their support, we can't wait to do it all again next year! Mr Smith Our next football league match will take place on Thursday after school. We will be taking two teams over to High View to participate in the matches. A girls team and a boys team from years 5 and 6.
Good luck to all involved and enjoy the occasion! Mr Smith |
