Hello, welcome to our class page, we are Team SG. Here is our vision statement:

Meet Our Team

Miss Groves

My name is Miss Groves, and I currently teach Team SG. This is my first year teaching at Park Street, and I am really excited to work with such a wonderful class and team. I've been fortunate to work in several trust schools, as well as a few others in the area. I am excited to spend the year assisting Team SG on their learning adventure and watching the class grow. Yellow is my favourite colour, and I enjoy being outside. My favourite topics include math, science, and history. I also enjoy reading and making crafts. In my spare time, I love going on walks, watching films and spending time with family.

Mrs Clarke

Hi my name is Mrs Clarke. I have lots of experience working with all year groups throughout school. This year I have the pleasure of supporting our children in Team SG. Exciting for me to see how much they have grown and progressed since I supported most of them a few years ago in Reception. I am looking forward to seeing how much more they are going to achieve this academic year. In my spare time, you'll usually find me in the gym, out walking or socialising with friends. 

Mrs Robinson

Hi, I am Mrs Robinson and I am a Teaching Assistant in the amazing Team SG. I love supporting our Talented Troops in all areas of their learning, especially when we get creative! I have just completed my second year at Wombwell Park Street and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of an amazingly supportive school community. In my spare time, I enjoy baking, sewing, playing cricket, cycling and lovely, long walks with my family and our dog.

What will our learning journey look like?

We will embark on a historical journey to begin the autumn term, learning more about the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Ages, including their chronology. Our primary focus in history this term will be on recognising developments in travel and technology over this time period. Following the chronology of History, we will then explore who the Romans were. We'll explore why they invaded, how it affected Britain, and how they expanded across the world. We will also learn about Boudica and how she influenced Roman history.

We will be researching rivers and oceans in the Spring Term.  In this unit, we will compare and contrast the human and physical features of rivers, as well as learning about the consequences of flooding. We will also look into the various stages of a river and how land usage changes as a result. They will naturally use a variety of physical and digital tools to identify different rivers around the world. Some crucial questions may include: What is a river? How can flooding be avoided? What is the Equator?

During the Summer Term, we will be finding out more about sea creatures and their environment. Firstly, we will discuss and learn the names of sea, river, and canal species, as well as the features that allow them to thrive in these environments. Students will then have the opportunity to carry out exciting and in-depth research on the Blue Whale. ​ Finally, they will explore the use of classification keys to assist categorise, identify, and name a variety of living objects in their local and wider environments.

Dates for the Diary!

Monday - New RWI books given out to children.
Thursday - Indoor PE.
Friday - Previous week's homework due and new homework distributed.
Spelling test and new spellings distributed. 
​Weekly tables race.
Outdoor PE session.

Please note that Team SG has set PE days. However, occasionally due to busy timetables and changes in weather conditions, these times may be flexible. We politely request that PE kits are brought to school on a Monday and taken home for washing on a Friday
