My name is Carol Mason.  I am the Parent Support Advisor at Wombwell Park Street Primary School.  I have worked at Park Street for  many years now, some as a TA and more latterly as Parent Support Advisor.  This is a job I love as no day is ever the same and I love supporting our children and their families.



​My role is to support both children and parents to achieve the five outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda - the main aims of this being for every child, whatever their background or circumstances, to have the support they need to:

• stay safe
• be healthy
• enjoy and achieve
• make a positive contribution
• achieve economic well-being

I run an open door policy, which means parents can drop in to school to see me, catch me in and around school in a morning or at pick up, or contact our main school office to organise a meeting with me.  I can help with a range of matters and I am very good at listening and offering advice in a friendly and supportive way!  I can help with anything from: support filling in forms for housing or money, positive parenting support at home with behaviour, mental wellbeing (of children and families), medical issues regarding your children eg bed wetting.  I can also make referrals in to services such as: Family Intervention Service (FIS), Social Care, School Nursing Team, EWO services, Preferred Futures (for families needing mediation) and many more.  First and foremost I am here for the children of Park Street - do not hesitate to contact me if there are any friendship issues between children that I can also support with!

As a school we offer a Positive Parenting Group.  This takes place at Park Street in the Easter to Summer term.  Referrals can also be made to attend the courses at the other two primary schools in Wombwell: High View Primary Learning Centre and Kings Oak Primary Learning Centre.  These courses are run my myself and the Parent Support Advisors from the other two primary schools.

I have also trained and take the role of Deputy Safeguarding Officer in school and am a Lead Practitioner for Early Help Assessments (EHA).  The EHA process is a common process to identify more accurately and speedily the additional needs of children and young people.  This process creates an holistic view of the child and their family, to ensure we are meeting all of their needs.  Mrs Vaughton and Miss McGinnes also run EHAs alongside myself.
