Subject aims:
To help pupils develop an understanding of themselves and their relationships within society and to develop a sense of awe, wonder and spirituality. We aim to give children the opportunity to gain a sound knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principal religions, cultures and belief systems, to help them to respect the integrity of people and their beliefs.
How is the subject taught?
A mixture of weekly discreet lessons, blocked sessions, assembly themes, cross-curricular links to cookery, arts, PSCHE, literacy, maths, history and geography.
As well as weekly RE sessions we hold an annual re and philosophy week were pupils explore further a range of religions, cultures and beliefs.
How is the subject assessed?
  • Subject Assessment documents  have been implemented to support planning and target setting and ensure all required AT and PoS are covered.
  • This also enables us to ensure there is a clear progression through school
