School Trips and Visitors!
Wombwell Park Street Primary School is highly committed to ensuring children have wonderful and enriched experiences both in school and in the wider community.
Educational visits form an important part of our curriculum as we firmly believe that children learn best when engaged in first hand experiences. All visits are organised following local authority guidelines and procedures. As a school we use a system called 'Evolve' for staff to use to ensure they have risk assessed any outing / experience in school. These extensive precautions are then reviewed by our Business Director and Headteacher.
Educational visits and experiences can not take place without the cost of such trips being funded by parents. Such contributions are purely voluntary (the phrase 'voluntary contribution' is used on letters) and parents will be informed of the cost to each child, should a visit be planned. The school subsidises educational visits and every effort is made to keep costs to a minimum. Some classes do fund raisers to raise money (e.g. selling products made by the children at coffee mornings or sponsored events etc) or use their 'class budget' to fund a trip. Staff endeavour to explain costing for the trip in initial letters to parents, helping them understand the ways and lengths to which trips are subsidised and equally explain what parents and children will get for their money. It is important to note that if the money is not fully raised, then there is a chance that trips / special visits or visitors may not be able to take place.
Because of our new online payment system (School Gateway), trips can be paid for all in one go or over a period of time, before the trip takes place, or in cash at the main school Office.
Some of the more recent trips include:
Nursery - Chatsworth Hall for their Nativity; end of year picnic in the park

As well as this, school offers Year 5 children the amazing chance to go to Kingswood on a residential trip. This is led by Miss L Garratt (and supported by Mrs L Longden). The class have a super time and stay at the local site in Conisbrough. The children engage in lots of adventurous activities including: Crate Stack, Leap of Faith, Jacob's Ladder and Nightline. Each activity focuses on team building skills, resilience and problem solving. This is always a really popular trip - with children, parents and staff! This provides an incredibly strong experience for the children and further enhances our sporting curriculum.
Teachers try really hard to enrich our outstanding curriculum by including trips out and inviting visitors in. Please see our Curriculum pages too which show all the exciting opportunities that are on offer at Park Street!
