Wombwell Park Street Primary School strives to achieve excellent standards of attainment and progress for our children.

Generally speaking, our attainment is below average on entry to the school (especially in reading, writing and mathematics).  On the most part, children exit our school, in Year 6, at or above national expectations.

Our strongest subject is mathematics and this has been the case for several years now, but reading and writing are not far behind and the teaching, learning and assessment in these core subjects has improved over time, thanks to hard working and proactive staff and Governors and continued work with the ECM Trust Central Team!  We are working hard to make sure that these standards are maintained and improved upon, year on year.

The wider school curriculum is and has historically been very important to Park Street's staff team, evidence supported by our Arts Mark Gold status, Primary Science Quality Mark and Games Mark Gold status.  Recent developments within the curriculum have ensured all staff are clear on the curriculum intent, implementation and impact and the progression of skills and knowledge throughout school, in every subject.  We firmly believe that the wider curriculum supports our learners well and is contributing to improved results.

The school prioritises early reading skills, oracy and mathematics throughout.  Our children get off to a good start in Early Years and children are making more rapid and sustained progress over time as a result of this.  Our Phonics scheme of work, Read Write Inc (RWI) is supporting this prioritisation, with the aim being for better and more fluent readers who can access a deep, broad and balanced curriculum, preparing them for their next stage in education.
