During RE this term we have focused on the importance of Lent to the Christian faith and culture. We investigated all the different events celebrated through the Lent period. We looked at the importance of the Christian culture and faith. We were then, able to explain to our peers the different events in lent and at Easter. Then, we then able to create a table and draw the events that happened from the beginning of lent and during the holy week in the correct order.

We had a jam packed day experiencing how the Ancient Greeks lived.
We looked at Ancient Greek puzzles, designed our own Greek shields- using the laptops to research designs and implement them to our shields. We investigated the Greek flag, we spent the afternoon food tasting and doing our very own Greek Olympics. We created a taster table and marked each food out of ten. We got to try eight different Greek foods. Such as, olives, figs and feta cheese. Looking at our photos we weren't very sure of some of the food we tried! We really enjoyed dressing up and spending the day doing lots of exciting learning. Well here they are! Our magnificent Greek pots, we are super proud and impressed with how they have turned out! We really enjoyed planning and creating these master pieces! Our beautiful geometric patterns we had practised previously, we applied i
Friday's in Team JD are always memorable. To celebrate Mr Davison's Birthday. Mrs Akyel brought in biscuits to decorate and eat. We have a lovely afternoon and sang happy birthday to him.
Here we are, rocking into week five! We have had a full afternoon of amazing art! We have turned the plastic pop bottles into Greek pottery and vases. We have worked really hard in partners to create amazing pieces of pottery. Today we got messy, we applied Mod Roc to the plastic shapes we have created. These will then dry ready for us to create wonderful Greek paintings onto them.
We had an amazing afternoon full of creativity! Mrs Akyel is super proud of our determination and never give up attitude. During science Team JD focused on resistance. We learnt and understood that resistance is a type of friction and the effects of air résistance. We carried an experiment to explore air resistance and how the mass, gravity and surface area. We had to predict which of the parachutes would fall the fastest, we had to create four different size parachutes, and test them accurately. When then had to write down our observations and conclusion.
Please see the results in the photos. Most of us predicted correctly that the smallest parachute will fall the fastest. Wow! Where do we start with our amazing WW1 day! We had such an amazing time and would really like to thank Mr Fidment for such a passionate, fun, hands on and down right dirty experience.
As you can see from the photos, we had the best time and we had such big smiles (and lots of dirt) on our faces! We really felt like were soldiers and got stuck in with all the activities set for us! Working as a team and creating such memories! Making the dens and working together really gave us a sense of confidence, patience and problem solving! |
