Tumble Tots to music

Our Year 5 pupils have engaged in a glockenspiel unit this half term. They have built on skills previously covered in LKS2. Children have started to look at music notation and have had the opportunity to play simple pieces following notation scripts.

Our Year 4 pupils continue to make excellent progress with their ukulele playing during their weekly lessons with Mr Kelly. They have broadened their repertoire of songs and will be performing in assembly and for parents next half term.

Children in Team AC have enjoyed finding out more about the genre of Rock music. They have learnt to sing and play I wanna play in a band. They have also had the opportunity to record their own music notation.

Children have been listening to and appraising a range of songs including: Happy by Pharrell Williams, When I'm 64 by the Beatles and The Banana Rap. Pupils have learnt to perform the  song The Banana Rap and unpicked the structure looking at introductions, rap and outro.

The children in Team CB have really enjoyed their music unit this half term. 'Let Your Spirit Fly'. They have focused on rehearsing and performing the song as a group. As well as the singing element of this unit children used the notes C, F and G through instrumental work and then gradually built up to C, B, A, G, F and E. They enjoyed a range of pitch and rhythm copy back games.
