Today we looked at the three main types of soil: Sand, Loam and Clay.
We used magnifying glasses to look closely at the soil samples and this helped us to describe them. We touched the soil to see what it felt like and we even discovered a worm and a millipede in one of the samples proving that soil is alive!! We then carried out an experiment to see which soil type was the most permeable (the best for plants to grow in). We discovered that the loam soil was the most permeable type as it allowed more water to drain through whereas the sandy soil was the least permeable as hardly any water drained through the sample.
