Growing

Over the past 3 weeks we have been learning ab0ut growing.
We have linked this learning to the stories of Jack and the Beanstalk for the first week of this topic.
The children enjoyed planting bean seeds and making a castle in a cloud for their bean plants to grow towards.
They were excited to see that after weekend the beans had germinated and were starting to grow shoots.
Moving our learning on we shared the story of The Enormous Turnip.
The children enjoyed weighing and comparing different sized turnips and making up their own versions of the story. They also enjoyed making giant fruit and vegetable paintings.
On our third week of growing we have read stories from the Oliver's Vegetables series. We have learnt about different types of fruit and vegetables and created shopping lists of our favourite fruit and veg as well as exploring the insides of fruit and looking at the seeds.
