Over the past two weeks we have been learning about different jobs. We started with setting the roleplay area up as a bakery and finding about about different occupations. The children thought about what they wanted to do when they grow up..
We have been learning about harvest and with this in mind we enjoyed the story of The Little Red Hen and made speech bubbles for the hen and other characters from the story.
As part of our provision activities we made salt dough cakes for the bakery and designed cakes. We chose different 2d shapes as part of our cake designs and made 2d shape hens later in the week..
The next week we have moved on to learning more about jobs in the community, in particular the emergency services.
We have changed 0ur role-play area into a Doctors and have been practising our bandaging techniques and how to call in an emergency.
We have shared stories based on the theme of hospitals and firefighters..
In our provision we have made X-ray paintings and roleplayed air and sea rescues with the emergency vehicle toys. We have used boxes to construct emergency vehicles.
On Welly walk we have been learning about patterns and making patterns with the natural materials we have found.
Our Maths learning has been all about the number 5. There is so much to learn about number 5 that we have spent a whole 2 weeks on this number. Counting, recognising, subertising, adding and subtracting, as well as telling number stories about 5.
