This week in Numeracy we have been learning about money. We have identified coins, matched their value using 1p coins and we have purchased items from our pet shop using the correct coins.
We then developed this further by identifying coins of greater value than the items we were buying and some children could tell me they knew they could use a larger value coin to pay for an item because it was bigger (worth more). Please keep revisiting this at home by identifying coins (1p-20p was our main focus), count out coins to pay for items or let children handle money if you go to the shop etc to have the experience of paying and recieving change - this is a good talking point when using money of greater value than the item being bought.
