We have had a busy first week back at school. The children all seem to have had a good rest over the holidays, and it was wonderful to see them on Tuesday. This week in Literacy, the children have began reading their new text, Dracula, and researching about the mythological figure. They have enjoyed looking into more detail about where Bram Stoker first bore the idea for this character, as well looking in more detail at the history behind the story.
Maths In Maths, Team DB have started looking attentively at multiplication, focussing on their timestables. The children have been working hard in developing their knowledge and understanding around this subject, and how using column method can help when calculating multiplication problems. They all remembered how multiplication is commutative, just like addition, as well as identifying how multiplication is repeated addition. History For our topic this half term, the children will be focussing upon the Ancient Greeks. This week in Team DB, we have started investigating what we already know about the Ancient Greeks, and how there are some links between this era with other historical topics. The children were aware about the conceptual links between History and other areas of the curriculum, such as Geography and Science, as well as linking the Ancient Greeks to the Romans! The children are very excited to begin their new topic.
