Now all our new children have started nursery, a big focus this week has been on making friends. In our provision we have been learning how to talk to our friends and to share and take turns with our resources.
We have played different games at carpet times to help us to learn the names of our new friends. We also met "Beat Baby" and we learnt to carefully take turns to hold it and walk around the circle. Look at us playing, exploring and learning together! We are superstars!

Today we went on our first Welly Walk of the new school year and the children loved it! Firstly everyone put on their coats and wellies and we walked together to the nature reserve. We learnt to walk together to stay safe and how to "stop, look and listen" at our little road on the school drive. In the nature reserve, our focus was to play together and make friends while exploring in the trees. We also enjoyed playing some ring games together.
What a lovely first week we have had together! Today we enjoyed our first "Feel Good Friday" of the school year. The children all came in their sporty clothes and we had a go at ribbon dancing. This activity is great for developing our gross motor skills! Firstly we used our ribbons to make large patterns in the air- big circles, straight lines up and down and then across our bodies. Then we played "Happy" by Pharrell Williams and we practised our moves to the music. Photos to follow once all permissions have been gained.
It has been wonderful to welcome all our returning children back into nursery today and to see them engaging in so much learning already! The children have loved exploring in all our areas of provision and have enjoyed seeing their friends again. We have also got straight back into our group times with a focus on "5 little speckled frogs" and then a circle time where we tapped a steady beat on our claves while singing lots of different nursery rhymes. For story time, we enjoyed "Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy" which is a lovely rhyming story with lots of repetition- the children were great at joining in! Here are so photos of us in our provision on our first day back: We also enjoyed meeting our new starters who came for their first visit today and settled in brilliantly! Photos of our new children will be added once all the permissions have been gained.
We are really excited to welcome all our children into nursery this week! We are looking forward to seeing the children who are returning for another exciting year of learning and can't wait to hear about your holidays!
We also have some new children joining us. We are sure you will all settle in quickly and make lots of new friends. |
