Today was a very special day in nursery as we invited our family members in to watch our Christmas Singalong. The children have learnt lots of Christmas songs, some were accompanied by Makaton signs, some by dancing and some by playing bells. The children sang and played their instruments confidently and made us super proud. Well done, Shooting Stars!

We have been practising writing our names in the middle of our Christmas cards. We have been learning how to carefully hold our pen using a tripod grip and to make marks to represent the letters in our names. Some children used their name card to carefully copy the letters. We talked about how to form the letters using the words up, down and round. Amazing work, Shooting Stars!
Over the last few days, there have been lots of creative opportunities in nursery. We have been learning to hold scissors correctly to snip and cut and to attach different materials together in different ways while making our Christmas cards and calendars. Here are a few photos of us in action:
When we arrived at the nature reserve for our welly walk today, we discovered that there were lots of puzzle pieces hidden all over the nature reserve. Some were up high, some were down low, some were behind trees and others were on top of things so there was lots of Mathematical language as we hunted for the different pieces and described where we had found them. Once we had collected all the pieces, we worked together to assemble them like a huge jigsaw. We weren't sure what it was going to make but as we began to put the pieces together, the children were excited to discover that they had created a large picture of Santa!
A big thank you to all the parents and other family members who joined us today for our "Stay and Play" session. The nursery children absolutely loved showing you all around nursery and having a go at some Christmas themed activities with you. Our activities included:
-decorating biscuits using icing pens and sprinkles -creating a tree decoration -designing and making a Christmas card -sponge printing with glittery paint and Christmas shaped sponges -glittery Christmas playdough |
