Year 1 Learning

 Year 1 children have been accessing phonics groups relevant to where they are in the RWI programme. 

In Literacy, the children have been working hard to ensure they are forming letter correctly, starting and finishing in the right place as we know how important this is to be successful in our writing. Children have also practised writing simple CVC words with these sounds in using their Fred Fingers. We will continue with this work next week!

In Maths, the children have been practising counting forwards and backwards to 100. The children have used various mathematical resources to support them with this such as 100-square, bead string and Gattengo charts. They have begun to use mathematical language such as tens and ones when counting for example "three tens and sevens one, three tens and eight ones". 

The children have collaboratively completed their pre-unit assessments for Science and Geography!
