This half term Team LF have started learning about Islam. Team LF have learnt that people who follow the Islamic religion are called Muslims and that the faith was founded in Saudi Arabia. We know that Muslims believe in one God, who is called Allah and that he has ninety-nine names. During our lessons, we have also learnt that the Islamic faith follows the 'Five pillars of Islam' and these are the main beliefs of the religion. ,
We had the privilege of a workshop, led by Imran, a follower of the Islamic faith. Imran focussed on the importance of prayer, the times in which Muslims pray and how they pray within a mosque. He brought artefacts for the children to look at and also taught the children the key features of a Mosque building. Team SG have been reading various stories from the Torah in RE. Today we looked at the Creation story and why it is important in both Christianity and Judaism. We discussed why the story is significant in both religions and produced our own class story board using freezeframes!
Team JD, DB and LF have been extremely lucky to have Imran visit uthis week. Our year four and five children have enjoyed meeting our special visitor Imran, mashallah!
They have so many amazing facts about the religion Islam, Those who follow the Islamic faith are called Muslims, and there are around 1.9 billion Muslims in the world today. This makes Islam one of the world's largest religions, the second-largest religion after Christianity. Muslims only believe in one God, Allah, The Qur’an is the holy book of Islam. It contains 114 chapters, which are called surahs, Muslims pray 5 times a day, at dawn (Fajr), midday (Dhuhur), late afternoon (Asr), after sunset (Maghrib) and between sunset and midnight (Isha) and much much more! The children were engaged and loved learning about all aspects of the religion. They children then got chance to look at the pray mats, what they had to wear to pray. They even got chance to demonstrate it to the whole class. . Team AF and LL continue to learn about Buddhism and what it means to be a Buddhist.
