Chinese New Year

​Today Park Street have come together to celebrate the Chinese New Year also known as the Lunar New Year. This is one of the biggest events of the year for many East and South East Asian people. The reason the Chinese New year has fallen on the 1st February is because it marks the start of the new moon and the whole celebration depends on the moon and the date of the lunar New Year actually changes each year. This year marks the change from the Year of the Ox to the year of the Tiger.
 
Each Team have been given a specific question to investigate as they explore the Chinese New Year.

• Y5 Why is the moon significant in Chinese culture?
• Y6- How can the Chinese New Year contribute to community cohesion?
