This week has been absolutely jam-packed of exciting opportunities for our learners in Team CB. This week in Maths the class have been busy working on their understanding of angles. The week began with an angle hunt where children needed to deduce the type of angle shown; be than an acute, obtuse or right angle. The class were fantastic at this and quickly demonstrated a fantastic knowledge of how many degrees represented each type of angle. From this, the class moved to more problem solving tasks, involving finding missing angles from a straight line and comparing and classifying angles appropriately. They will further develop their understanding next week, before beginning to look at angles within shapes. Elsewhere, in Literacy, the class have been working hard to develop their knowledge of grammar concepts to support their writing. They have focussed on the use of direct speech, fronted adverbials and the possessive apostrophe to name just a few. Once they had learnt and applied new skills, the class spent the final session of the week working to construct a class of a new Viking Myth. The children were incredibly eager to include Thor and Heimdall in the battle against the mighty giants. I can't wait to see these stories come to life over the coming week. In addition to this, this week has been a highly important week for Year 4 as a whole. On Tuesday. the whole year group came together to participate in a Titanic themed history day. The purpose of this was to contrast modern history with ancient history, and develop a better understanding of events at the time. I could not have been more proud of the fantastic attitude towards learning that the year displayed. They were engaged throughout and especially loved the Science based investigation into making a more resilient boat which would not sink, They ended the day with a fountain of new knowledge, inspired by their interview with Milvina Dean (the last survivor of the Titanic). Why not take a look at the photos below to see how the day unfolded?
