News just in! King Vortigern has expressed his grave concern over rumors that the Anglo Saxons are planning on invading. That's right! This week in Literacy, the class have received a very important message from the King asking for their help to spread the news. As such, the class decided the only way to do this was by writing a newspaper article and delivering these to the citizens of Britain to share this unexpected information. The class have worked really hard to begin to understand what makes a good newspaper, by identifying features and functions before using this to establish their own success criteria for writing. Following this, the class have worked on refining key skills such as accurately applying the rules of speech (we know how important it is to get a quote from the King himself!) before beginning to plan their writing. Be sure to check in with us to see how the writing process goes next week.
Meanwhile, in Maths the class have worked tirelessly to secure their knowledge and confidence in applying the appropriate procedure to solve problems linked to the four operations. I could not be more proud of the progress that they have made this week. A huge thumbs up from me Team CB! In our topic, we have been investigating the chronology of Anglo Saxon history and understanding where this sits in relation to history overall. The class were fantastic at identifying key events, as well as researching other local, national and international events which took place at the time. We also explored how the Anglo Saxons arrived into Britain and how the country was split into the seven kingdoms as a result. Be sure to check back with us next week to see what new learning we uncover! In our Science, we have been busy trying to understand the classification system. We used Guess Who! to help recognise the way different things can be classified and created our own classification keys. Next week we will be taking this knowledge outdoors when we go on our own invertebrate hunt! Check back soon for more updates.
