Broadcasting Live!

This week Team CB have been working hard across all aspects of their learning. We have been really busy concluding our learning in Maths around division. As a team we have investigated word problems linked to division, as well as ways in which we can reason practically based on what we already know. We have then used this is a series of problem solving situations, such as competitive games where the children had to use their resources to make the highest or lowest possible total. The mathematical discussion which came from this was fantastic, with the children thinking really carefully about the way the dividend and divisor influenced the answer. Next week we will be consolidating our learning on all 4 operations.
In our Literacy, we continued with our work on our news broadcasts. This week saw the children begin to write their broadcast script and think critically about the questions they asked in their interview in order to get the best response. Once we had produced our scripts, we worked in small groups to begin to fetch the script to life. The class worked in teams of 4, taking on different roles such as the news-reporters, interviewer and interviewee. We then recorded the videos, edited them and played them to share our news! The class really enjoyed this unit and the work they created was fantastic! Well done Spectacular Space Cadets.
Elsewhere, in topic this week we have completed our work around the Sutton Hoo discovery, Did you know that the artefacts found there suggest it could have been a King who was buried? The class were so good at using their inference skills to deduce what the artefacts told us! 
In our science, we continued with our new unit of Classification and Variation. The class investigated the 7 life processes needed to keep us alive, as well as begin to look a types of living things, including vertebrates and invertebrates and how we group them.
