How has it already flown around to Christmas? This term seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye and with so much keeping us busy, I am so very proud of all the hard work Team CB have shown this term. It seems such a long time ago since the class entered Year 4, albeit only 15 weeks ago, yet the growth, maturity and confidence they have developed is clear to see.
This week, we have been busy working on our new maths unit around co-ordinates. The class have been busy getting to grips with what co-ordinates are by reading and plotting them to create simple polygons. From this, we took the festive theme onboard and created our own festive images using co-ordinates to help us. From this, we moved on to looking at translation and the ways that shapes can be moved and how we can articulate this. When we return post Christmas we will be tackling division using the formal written method. Elsewhere, this week we have drawn our topics to a close, including our Science unit on electricity and our Geography topic on Europe. To mark the progress we have made in our Science topic, the class each created their own fully functioning torch. They used their knowledge of creating circuits to help them, and included a switch to ensure the torch was used only when needed. In our Geography topic, we have concluded by looking at some on the dangers that physical processes pose on humans, as well as considering climate zones and how these contribute to such processes. When we settle back into learning in January, our topic moves away from Geography, and our focus becomes History. We will be closely exploring Anglo Saxon and Viking Britain and how they came to settle here. Make sure you pop back to see how we kickstart the topic! All that is left to say, is I wish you all a very restful half term and look forward to seeing you all in 2020!
