SPAG superstars!

Another half term has flown by and I could not be more thrilled at the level of commitment the class have shown towards their learning this half term. They have met any challenge head on, and shown great determination in the desire to succeed. I feel that as we come back from half term, I will be greeted with the same enthusiasm and engagement towards learning. 

This week, we have been busy concluding our learning of Area in maths. We have investigated closely how area can be calculated through counting squares, creating shapes by given areas and comparing areas. The class really enjoyed the work they did around area and now have a really clear understanding of the difference between area and perimeter. During the first week back, Team CB will showing everything they know when we take on a Maths Reasoning and Arithmetic paper. I'm sure the whole team will do amazingly well. 

Meanwhile, in Literacy we have spent this week further understanding some key SPAG concepts. As a team we have explored determiners, paragraphs, plural and possessive as well as fronted adverbials to name but a few. Spectacular Space Cadets truly were superstars, giving it their all in what can be some tricky concepts to master! As in Maths, the first week back our superstars will undertake a SPAG and reading challenge to see what we have remembered! Good luck!

Elsewhere, this week we have also been learning about Anglo Saxon superstitions. Did you know that the Anglo Saxons were pagan and believed in more than one god? Our class have been researching such information to compile their own fact files. I know these are going to be simply fantastic to read!  

It is with that, that I wish all the class a very restful half term and hope they have chance to relax and enjoy time with friends and family. Please remember, Year 4 will begin swimming after half term so make sure they come equipped with all they may need!
