Here we are, once again Friday has quickly come around and its time to reflect on the productive week we have had.
This week in our Maths we have been working incredibly hard to secure our understanding of rounding numbers to the nearest 10/100 or 1000. This required the class to show confidence in their place value knowledge in order to identify which columns may change as a result of rounding. The class were fantastic at using the rule "5 or more add 1 to the number next door, 4 or less let it rest". They were able to confidently round up to 4 digit numbers to the specified value. Well done Team CB I am incredibly proud of the confidence and competence you are showing in your learning so soon into the academic year. Elsewhere, in Literacy we have been looking at traditional tales. We have looked at a range of different texts and the similarities and differences that they have before working to develop our understanding of how to incorporate descriptive language in our writing. We have focused specifically on expanded noun phrases and prepositional phrases as ways of including further information. In order to ensure we are ready to hit the ground running with writing our own tale next week, we have planned a class tale looking at the plot structure carefully to ensure it flows. Whilst I can't give much away currently, what you should know is that these will be fantastic - i'm sure! Check back next week to see what we get up to in our writing!
