Maths

At the start of this term we are focussing on multiplication and division in Y4.
In this unit we have started to work on multiplying 2 an 3-digit numbers by 10, 100 and 1000. We have also been looking in great detail at our 11 and 12 times tables to make sure pupils feel confident in their recall and understanding.

Literacy

This half term, we are working on poetry and our key topic is World War 1.
We have been concentrating on vocabulary and inference skills in our reading sessions, focussing on Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo.
In our writing lessons, we have been looking at the key features of poetry writing, including similes and emotive language, in preparation for using these within our own writing.
