Welcome Back! For those of you who are visiting the class blog for the first time, let me explain how it works. Over the course of the year, I will aim to do regular check ins to share what exciting things Team CB have been up to. We will cover a wide range of topics and share exciting news and plans as they arise. So in true Team CB style, here is a run down of the week so far.
What a wonderful first week back to school. I could not be more impressed with how the children have settled in and the fantastic attitude that they have shown towards their learning. They have really strove to meet my high expectations and I could not be more proud of their conscientious nature and willingness to learn. This week we have focussed on introducing expectations around how our new classroom will function and began to embed new routines, class seats and such like. The children have all responded really well! In addition to this, we have been working really hard in our Maths, the first three weeks back of school are renowned for being the whole school focus on times tables and the class have worked so hard already on completing their Times Tables Race and improving their score each day. Well done Spectacular Space Cadets! We have also been practicing ways to learn new times tables including our 6 and 7 x tables and we are already picking these up with confidence. Meanwhile, we have also worked hard in Literacy refreshing our reading skills and beginning to practice our new handwriting approach. The class have shown how well they can recall information learned last year, and we are already beginning to build upon this knowledge as we have explored generating Higher Order Thinking Questions and response stems. Next week, will mark the start of our new writing sequence where we will begin to look at traditional European tales. Be sure to check back next week for an update. Like that wasn’t already enough, we have also been busy in our first Ukulele session – the class loved it and are so keen to get started learning their new instrument! Well done Team CB – keep up the fantastic work! We have also began looking at Europe and the countries it is made up of. Sometime back in Summer, the class advised they would like to create a patchwork map to kick-start their learning so that is exactly what we have done – I will aim to upload a few snaps of our creative bunch hard at work! As you can see, it has already been a week full of wonderful learning and I can’t wait to see even more of this continue as we head into next week. Be sure to pop back and see what we have been up to! Miss Baxter
