MathsThis week in maths the children of Team JF continued exploring addition. We started off by counting three groups of objects and understanding how to put this into a calculation. From this, we began working on strategies we could use to help us be successful. We initially counted on from the given number, however, we found this could lead to us becoming confused. We then started to break it up into smaller chunks to make it easier. As our learning progressed, we then created our own calculations in pairs by rolling a dice three times and solving the calculation we made. LiteracyThis week in literacy we made plans to make tin birds just like in our book The Tin Forest, we planned to do this from recycled tin materials. Working in pairs, we used a tin can to form the body of the bird, and then added a range of other tin materials/card/coloured paper in order to make our ‘tin bird’. We added eyes, beaks, wings and legs to our model. Afterwards, we came to the carpet and shared our ideas with the rest of the class. ArtThis week in art we continued looking at buildings in Wombwell, this week we decided to use some objects to print onto our paper, trying to make some buildings in Wombwell we had seen. Design and TechnologyThis week in DT we started our first project, we first spoke about fruits we liked and what they tasted like, we then made a plan each for our fruit kebabs full of fruit we enjoyed. We then had the chance to make fruit kebabs in team JF, we then all enjoyed eating them together. GeographyThis week in geography, we decided that we would go out of school and have a look at our local area, Wombwell. We looked at the environment around us, we used our senses to describe what we had found and if things had changed, like the trees, the season and the weather. The children were fantastic! Well done Team JF! PSHEThis week in PSHE we looked at being healthy and what healthy means. We looked at a variety of different ways we can be healthy, at home at school, inside and outside with range of activity's you can do to keep it fun. Having a healthy diet is important.
