Over the past couple of weeks Team JF have been working incredibly hard to identify numbers on a number line. We initially started by identifying multiples of ten on a marked line but as we mastered this skill, moved into ones too! As our learning progressed, we moved into exploring unmarked number lines and how we could estimate the position of numbers on these too!

This week we have rounded up our learning by challenging our children to complete number sequences stretching to 120. We are ready for out next steps in learning and will be introducing Unit 2 next week of comparing quantities and measures. Additionally, we will be introducing whole and parts.
We have been working hard in Maths to improve our understanding of place value, adding numbers efficiently, number bonds to 10, and exploring the composition of 100. We used practical tools like Base 10 and place value counters to understand how numbers are represented and how this may aid us in our calculations.
Air guitars at the ready! Today we saw the children of Park Street come to school dressed as a TT Rockstar. During the morning Team DB, Team LF, and Team JD experienced a battle of the band, with each team vying for first position. We're proud to say that Team DB won with the most points! After practising their timestables partaking in various activities, the children themselves displayed that they enjoyed competing with each other, and with Mrs Bamforth, using the laptops. We have encouraged the children to continue practising at home as they were reminded that we have a Team leader board along the corridor as well as the Top 10 Class Display board for each week. Congratulations went to Kobie-Joe, AJ and Mason for being the Top 3 players in Team DB! Well done to everyone! In maths, we have been playing a game of 'show me' - where Miss Overton says a number and children have to show that many number of fingers and then show it in a different way. The children have been comparing 2 sets of objects and identifying which is ‘more than’ and which is ‘fewer than’. We have also been learning to use the positional language; ‘over’, ‘under’, ‘through’ and ‘around’. In Maths, Year 1 have continued counting within 100, we have had a specific focus on counting forwards clapping on each multiple of 10, counting from a given number and recognising numerals on a 100. Additionally, we have used the number line on BrainingCamp to count within 100 and we have been working on identifying numbers by counting on from the previous multiple of 10.
TTRS Re-launch event comes to Wombwell Park Street - Friday 13th October 2023! Get your costumes on, your microphones and guitars out and your game face ready. May the best Rockstars win!
In maths this week, we have been learning about decimal fractions. The children have been using their previous learning about tenths and applying their place value knowledge to recognise the value of a tenth and how tenths can be composed. The children have been using manipulatives and Braining Camp to eplore tenths, written as both decimals and fractions.
We have been securing our number bonds. Working hard to learn our 3 x tables. we have been developing further our place value knowledge and addition skills. We have been using the vocabulary addend whole and equation.
In Maths, our Reception children we have been focusing on the composition of 2,3 and 4. Children know that 2 is made of 1 and another 1, 3 is made of 1 and 1 and 1, and 4 is made of 1 and 1 and 1 and 1. Here are some pictures of our collections of 2, 3 and 4! In Maths, we have continued counting within 100. This week we have focused on using a number line and identifying the number that comes before each multiple of 10.
