This term Team JF have started our new unit of learning 'weather around the world', linked with our geography/science. To begin with we discussed and explored the four seasons, comparing real weather images with depictions of weather in art. From this, we started to think about the colours we may use to represent different weather types such as warm and cold colours.
This term we are exploring the Stone Age through to the Iron Age and as part of this we are creating our own sketches of Stonehenge. We have studied images of Stonehenge to support with our understanding of how it was constructed. This has helped us when thinking about how to sketch this. After completing our sketches, we are now ready to use watercolours to paint these over the next coming weeks.
Our artist of the half term is Tony Marsh who is a sculptor and ceramicist. We are looking closely at his work this half term, as later in the half term we will be creating clay pots linked to the Stone Age. This term we are exploring natural disasters and will be working in groups to create models based on natural disasters. IN preparation for this we have been exploring images and the impact of natural disasters. We have been developing sketches in our art books and exploring the use of pencil crayons, pastels and charcoal to represent mood and movement. We have worked on mixed media drawing incorporating photographic images and have begun to discuss plans for our final 3d model in our groups.
Our artist of the half term is JMW Turner we have been exploring his techniques for representing extreme weather in his artwork.
