We have had a busy term exploring the artistic styles and techniques developed by the Ancient Egyptians: specifically tomb art - not as morbid as it sounds the imagery, use of symbolism, hieroglyphics and range of sculpture and model making is really interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed learning more during our trip to the Tut 22 Exhibition at Experience Barnsley where we were lucky enough to see some original items of tomb art and crafts from the tomb of Tutankhamun.
We have developed our own sketches, collage and drawings and prints based on ancient Egyptian art. We were also lucky enough to visit the Cooper Gallery this term. We enjoyed learning more about Henry Moore and his art work. He wasn't just a sculptor you know! We also enjoyed illustrating our own mini books based on Macbeth during Shakespeare Week.
