This week we are basing our learning around the theme of trains and our book of the week is Magic Train Ride.
Click the link to share it with your child at home: Magic Train Ride | Barefoot Books Singalong - YouTube We are learning to join in with the repetitive phrases within this book by re-reading it lots during the week. See if your child can join in with the words and maybe they could show you the Makaton sign for train.

We love baking day in nursery and today we decided to follow a recipe to make some biscuits. The children have got much more confident with baking now and are really developing their skills with mixing and rolling. Firstly a group of children helped Miss Powell to make the biscuit dough by weighing and mixing all the ingredients. Then everyone carefully rolled out their own dough and cut out their biscuit. We have made vehicle shaped biscuits to link with our theme of the week.
One of our focused activities this week has been making vehicles in the creative area. We have chosen a vehicle and some materials and used our creative skills to make it. The children have learnt how to attach materials in different ways and some children have found out how to make wheels that actually turn using split pins!
Today the children have really enjoyed working together to build different vehicles in the outdoor area. They used crates, tyres, boxes and big bricks to build and then they wrote their own tickets so they could role play travelling to different places.
Look at our fantastic teamwork! Welcome back to the final term in nursery- this year has flown!!
Our new theme for learning is "Travelling Out and About" and we will be learning about all different kinds of vehicles through this theme. Our book of the week is "We all go travelling by" which has a lovely repetitive and rhyming structure. We are reading and re-reading the book as well as learning a song version so the children can recite it themselves. We have been learning the Makaton signs for all the different vehicles in the book. Here is a link to the book as a song if you would like to share it with your child at home: We All Go Travelling By (UK) | Barefoot Books Singalong - YouTube Have fun singing and see if your child can join in with the repetitive phrases and the rhyming words. |
