On our Welly Walk on Friday, we had great fun exploring "Not a Stick." We started by reading the book and then all the children were challenged to find their own stick in the nature reserve. We used our imaginations to role play with our sticks, pretending they were paintbrushes, drumsticks, walking sticks, fishing rods, swords, flutes, telescopes, unicorns and much more. The children also made their own pretend campfire and toasted marshmallows! It is amazing to see such young children with such brilliant imaginations.

In nursery we love to hear about the children's wow moments of learning from home.
Thank you to all the parents who have returned wow moment leaves of things you are proud of with your child, We have enjoyed reading them out to all the children and they are now proudly on display on our wow moments tree in the cloakroom. Please keep them coming in so we can continue to fill up our tree- there is plenty of room! This week we also enjoyed decorating our own biscuit. The children developed their fine motor skills as they spread the icing and sprinkled on some toppings. I hope you enjoyed eating your creation!
Thank you to all the parents who sent in family photographs last week. The children had the opportunity to share their photos with the class and talk about who is in their family. We have now displayed them in our home corner role play area so the children can talk about them with their friends as they play.
If you would still like to send in a photograph it is not too late! You can either send in a printed one or email it into school. Thank you for your support. Next week in nursery we will be learning all about families. We will be reading lots of different stories about families and talking about the children's families too.
It would be really helpful if you could all send in a family photograph which we can add to our home corner display. You can either send in a printed copy or email it in to: [email protected] Thank you for your support. Today the nursery children and staff put on our wellies and we enjoyed a full session of outdoor learning in our nature reserve area.
We discovered that there were leaves everywhere of all different sizes, shapes and colours so we decided to pick up our favourites. The children went collecting and stuck their leaves onto a strip of card which was then made into a crown. The children then enjoyed playing with their friends at being Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses, proudly wearing their leaf crowns. On our visit to the nature reserve earlier in the week, we discovered that our apple trees were full of delicious looking apples so we decided to pick them. Today some children worked with Mrs Hart to weigh and mix the ingredients to make our very own apple crumble.
At snack time we all got to taste it. Some children thought it was delicious and others were not so keen but we all had a taste! Miss McGinnes thought it was yummy! See if your child can tell you whether they liked it or not. This week in nursery all our new children have started attending for all their sessions. We have begun our focused group times and the chidlren have enjoyed playing lots of different turn taking and listening games. In the provision, the children have been excellent at exploring all our different learning areas. Our creative area has been especially popular with the children taking home lots of wonderful paintings and collage pictures every day. We have also been practising our mark making skills to create a picture for our class display.
We have been using the nature reserve for our outdoor learning and the children have enjoyed exploring the area and learning to play together with their new friends. We are very excited to welcome lots of new families into our nursery this week. The new children have been for visits and have thoroughly enjyoyed exploring our learning environment and getting to know the staff and their new friends.
It has also been wonderful to welcome back our older children and to see how much some of them have grown! We are really looking forward to our first full week next week! |
