It has been absolutely amazing to have all of Team LL back together again in school following partial school closures. We have had a busy week. In maths we have been working on algebra: exploring one step and two step function machines. We used Cuisenaire rods to develop some algebraic expressions. We have also been getting our times tables back up to super fast speed with a rerun of the Times Tables Race challenge. In literacy we have been building up our stamina for writing by completing some short write challenges. See below for some of the exciting activities we completed as part of Science week.
Team LL have been lucky enough to be engaging in workshops organised by Barnsley Youth Choir. Luke Mather's has led the workshps for Team LL. During the workshops we have explored different genres of music and explored dynamics, control, rhythm and pitch. Children have had the opportunity to learn and perform a range of songs. Most importantly it has been lots of fun.
Although most of Team LL were working at home it was great to see everyone on Class Zoom in their World Book Day dress up. We all enjoyed joining in the live lesson and enjoyed an additional literacy lesson from the amazing author Derek Landy. A fun day enjoyed by all.
Team LL have had an amazing Science Week. We were lucky enough to be involved with a virtual chemistry workshop ran by lecturers from Sheffield University. We attended online lectures and learnt about Sir Harry Kroto and his discovery of a third kind of carbon called the Buckminsterfullerene - or Buckyball for short. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. The class had the challenge of creating their own models of the mollecule.
Team LL were set a challenge as part of British Science Week. They were asked to think about what a classroom of the future might look like. After research and discussion the children set about creating their future classroom plans.
