As a school, we are committed to ensuring your child gets the best possible education that we can offer. The current circumstances are proving to be a bit of a challenge for us all and we know that education is quite difficult at the moment whilst we are facing this pandemic. With this in mind, we have subscribed to the online platform ‘SeeSaw’. SeeSaw is a platform that allows teachers to set home learning for each child in their class. Over the next few days, you will be receiving an email (with an attachment of the document below) that provides you with more information about how Seesaw works and how we are going to use it as a school. You will also receive your child's log on details in this email. Please look out for this arriving in your inboxes. As of Monday 27th April 2020, all learning and activities will be placed on Seesaw and not on class blog pages. Although we will continue to post blogs regularly, we will not be using them to the extent that we have done over the past few weeks, Many thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
Life and parenting can be challenging in normal situations. The situation we find ourselves in currently is far from normal. We have put together a number of useful links and documents, as well as advice on how to deal with some difficult situations you might find ourselves in. Please take a look at the information below and do not hesitate to contact school if you would like any additional information regarding these topics or anything else you need advice and support about - if we cannot help, we will know who can.
Hi Team LL. Hopefully, you have all been having a go at Jo Wicks's workouts each morning. If you fancy some additional PE activity ideas, please take a look at the activity ideas below.
Hi Team LL. Miss Fury has recommended an excellent Science site with lots of free and exciting science videos and activities. To support you with this week's science work on reversible and irreversible changes check out the video following the link below:
wowscience.co.uk/?sfid=87&s=reversible+and+irreversible+changes Network Rail has contacted all primary school to ask teachers to pass on a message for parents and pupils about the danger of children playing on or near rail tracks. Please follow the link below for an important video lesson on rail safety. Keep yourselves safe! Stay away from rail tracks!
learnliveuk.com/network-rail-primary-school-safety-talk/ That's right today is World Earth Day. Check out the presentation below to find out a bit more about it.
The Historical Association have a "Write your own historical fiction competition" so if you enjoy history and writing stories then this is for you! All of the details are explained on the website and it explains what the judges are looking for and the entry rules. If you are thinking of entering please have a look at the website and Mrs Allen and Miss Clementson would love to read your stories too!
In addition to the competition below Miss Clementson has added lots of links to history websites. These can be found on the history blog page. https://www.history.org.uk/primary/categories/530/news/3451/write-your-own-historical-fiction-competition-2020 Sir Linkalot (which is a fantastic app to support spelling) is kindly giving all parents and schools free access during lockdown to enable children of all ages (4 years old upwards) to have Sir Linkalot Time at home. There will be a daily midweek 30 minute show online, starting this Thursday at 2 o'clock, on Sir Linkalot's Facebook page and Youtube channel, featuring Countdown's Susie Dent. There are two obvious benefits in using this whilst children are currently learning form home: one, it would most definitely raise their literacy levels and, two, it would make life a whole lot easier for you! It is not solely for spelling, however. It's covering the whole of the technical requirements of literacy, i.e vocabulary, homophones, punctuation, grammar, rules and patterns. So, it very much applies to older children as well.
To access the content, you can do this in one of two ways, either downloading via the App Store or on a laptop/PC. Please note, once you have downloaded the app from the App Store (small problem with Androids at the mo), tap on the log icon (for 'Log in') at the top right. You can also view it on a laptop or PC. Type in the browser itself (not a search engine)... app.sirlinkalot.org and follow the above instructions (the log icon is for 'log in'). Further information of log on details will be sent out electronically. Keep up your super spelling :) I wanted to let you know about a Kickstarter campaign that has been launched. The campaign is the #SeeSportyBeSporty Girls and Sport Poster Campaign. At Park Street, we want to help spread the word to children and parents who might like to support it too. The link to the campaign is: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/totallyrunable/seesportybesporty-role-models-posters-of-girls To help, and hopefully spread the message I’ve attached an at-home task and competition. It would be great if we had some entries from our school. If you want to take part in the competition, email or tweet us a picture of your poster and we will send it to Totally Runable for you.
