The Arts Council would just like to say a huge well done to everyone for putting up such amazing work at the Summer Fayre. The interfaith artwork was amazing. Well done everyone. Have a look at the photos on the gallery. Wow!
During today's Arts Council we have made some exciting plans for Arts Week 2018. Mrs Longden is making arrangements for Peter Swidrak to bring an exhibition of portraits to school. Our Key Stage 1 children had the brilliant idea of setting up an art gallery. We thought it would be great for other year groups to do this too. As the World Cup is just around the corner we thought each class could chose a World Cup country and find out about an artist from their country. Members of the Arts Council are going to collect more ideas from their class mates. We might also ask Mrs Allen to plan in some dance, drama and music into this year's Interfaith and Philosophy Week. So watch this space for more brilliant ideas.
After thoroughly enjoying the performance by Kinetic Theatre as part of Science Week The Arts Council collected feedback from their classes. It was reported that the children and grown-ups in school thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The acting was really good and the action was fast paced. Of course we learnt lots about science too!
The Arts Council are currently talking to their classmates and collecting ideas for this year's Arts Week. Miss Garratt presented an assembly today all about mutual respect and tolerance for other people. These are very important British values. Mrs Longden set the Arts Council a challenge to see if we could find any evidence in school to show that our school thinks these values are important. WOW! We found loads of evidence and lots of it was very arty and creative. We found art work from Interfaith week. Creative wiriting D&T work and information all about Chinese new year - Alan and Ben's mum kindly provided us with some authentic Chinese decorations. We found lots of evidence of classes celebrating other languages. There was artwork inspired by other cultures. We spotted classes learning about music from around the world. We found work in classes celebrating why children at our school are special and what makes them different. When we spotted examples of thes values we tagged them with a label. Keep your eyes peeled around school. We had fun and talked to the children in our classes about what we found out.
Following on from the huge success of last terms Artwork from Home Gallery we would like to introduce the new themes. So if you fancy getting creative and displaying your artwork on our Galley in the hall please hand in your masterpieces. Please place any completed artwork in the box in Reception and children from the Arts Council will update the display. Don't forget to add your name and class.
