Hi Guys,
Although things are not normal for us at the moment we have to remember that it wont always be this way and we will all be together again soon. So, just a short message to you all to stay safe, be kind, be happy, be the amazing children that you are and make everyday awesome. Missing everyone lots and sending massive hugs to you all. This has become a unique time in history and to remember this time I have attached a workbook to make a "time capsule". There are pages to add information about you and your family, your community and other events and interests. I hope you take some time to complete some or all of this so you can look back at it in years to come.
I hope you have all managed to access your Seesaw account to see the different activities posted every day. Every Monday I will post a grid with activities you can do throughout the week related to the topic or a particular skill. You can complete these any time and they are just like the provision activities we have around the classroom each week. It has taken me a few days to get to grips with using Seesaw but please let me know if you can't open a file or access an attachment I have added. If you would like any further information about how to respond to the activities I post, please follow the link to the Seesaw site for further information. https://web.seesaw.me/get-students-started Miss Garratt has also recorded a video to talk you through completing and submitting activities which is attached below. Hi Fabulous Flamingos!
I hope you are all keeping well, spending lots of time with your family and having so much fun! It has been such a long time since I have seen you all and I am missing you so much! It is very different being at home so much and has taken a lot of getting used to. I hope you have been enjoying some of the activities I have posted on our class blog. I have had some lovely photos and messages from some of you and it is great to see your learning at home! I would love to post some of the photos on our blog so everybody can see what their friends have been doing at home so please email them to school! I will be writing less on our blog from tomorrow and your activities will now be on SeeSaw. You can still complete some of the activities I have posted on this blog too if you would like to, and you still have your learning packs I sent home. I hope you enjoy some of the activities I send and have lots of fun learning with your family. I will try and post a phonics/literacy and maths activity each day and there will be some other activities linked to our topic and for other areas of the Early Years curriculum. Having lots of fun with your family is really important so if you can't complete every single activity every day please don't worry. Making lovely memories is what is important now and family time should be cherished! I really hope I can see you soon. I am so proud of all of you and I cant wait until the Flamingos are back together again. Lots of love from Miss Clementson As a school, we are committed to ensuring your child gets the best possible education that we can offer. The current circumstances are proving to be a bit of a challenge for us all and we know that education is quite difficult at the moment whilst we are facing this pandemic. With this in mind, we have subscribed to the online platform ‘SeeSaw’. SeeSaw is a platform that allows teachers to set home learning for each child in their class. Over the next few days, you will be receiving an email (with an attachment of the document below) that provides you with more information about how Seesaw works and how we are going to use it as a school. You will also receive your child's log on details in this email. Please look out for this arriving in your inboxes. As of Monday 27th April 2020, all learning and activities will be placed on Seesaw and not on class blog pages. Although we will continue to post blogs regularly, we will not be using them to the extent that we have done over the past few weeks, Many thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
Life and parenting can be challenging in normal situations. The situation we find ourselves in currently is far from normal. We have put together a number of useful links and documents, as well as advice on how to deal with some difficult situations you might find ourselves in. Please take a look at the information below and do not hesitate to contact school if you would like any additional information regarding these topics or anything else you need advice and support about - if we cannot help, we will know who can.
Today it is St George's Day! There are lots of activities and information on the Twinkl website to help you learn about it. We loved having the knights come to visit us, especially the evil Sheriff of Nottingham!
I would like you to create a fantastic knight! You can draw a picture, use creative resources, anything you like! When you have finished write a couple of sentences to tell me all about your knight. Is he/she brave? Where do they live? Who are their friends? What do they wear? Are they a good or bad character and what have they done to show that? I would love to see some of your ideas too! Yesterday was Earth Day which encourages us to look after our planet. If you would like to make a difference by "going green" please take a look at the Eco Reps blog on the website in the kids zone. There are ideas and activities and links to websites to learn about what we can do to make a difference.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Today is Earth Day and its goal is to teach everyone to appreciate nature and to understand the effects that humans have on damaging the planet. I am sure most of you have seen on the news about the canals in Venice improving during the lockdown and the animal visitors that towns and cities are experiencing now many people are at home. It is really easy to appreciate nature, even during a lockdown! I would like you to see the different types of nature you can experience from home! The Nature Detectives website has lots of brilliant resources and I have included a couple of their documents below. I would like you to see what birds you can spot and to try and encourage them into your garden. You can do this by making simple bird feeders, or even just by filling up your own. The documents below are a good start but there are plenty of other things you can do to encourage nature into your garden. You could spend a few minutes bird watching everyday for one week and I am sure you will begin to notice a few of the same birds returning to your feeder.
I hope you are enjoying your workout with Joe Wicks everyday! Here are some ideas you could try at home to get out and get moving! You can have lots of fun competing against your family!
