We have loved learning about superheroes this week! We have written in speech bubbles what we think superheroes might say, made a split pin Spider-Man and also had lots of fun exploring in our Autumn area!
In Literacy we have been focusing on segmenting and blending to read and write. We have been reading words for Spiderman that are VC and CVC words. We have been learning to write words within a phoneme frame by talking like a robot and writing the sounds in the correct order. Some of us have been learning to point to each sound and blend them together and make changes if we have written them in the wrong order. We have been learning to read tricky words this week and spot these in books. In maths we have been learning one more this week, and some of us have been learning two more and ten more identifying the value of the digits in two digit numbers. We began by using objects and adding one more object to see how many there were altogether. Then we moved onto using a number line to understand that one means counting on to the next number. Some of us have been able to do this in our head with no visual support!

This week we have been learning about emergency services and the different services that are involved.
In Literacy we have been focusing on letter formation and have been practicing tracing letters and forming our own sounds. In phonics we have been practicing segmenting sounds and using a phoneme frame to write CVC words. We are learning to identify the beginning, middle and end sound by talking like a robot and adding the letters to the phoneme frame. We have been learning the concept of a word and that words are made up of sounds. When we have been reading we have been counting words by jumping over the white spaces. This week we have been learning to split amounts into two groups. We have been doing this alongside our emergency services topic. We have been learning to show a number in different ways by playing a bunny ears game. We put our hands on our head and used our fingers to show an amount in different ways. We have been learning to explain what we said, for example “four and one make five, three and two make five.” Our goal is to make numbers without counting in ones on our fingers. |
