This week we are continuing our colour theme by focusing on the story of Elmer by David McKee. We have read different versions of the story and have talked about being different and how that is okay.
In the painting area, we have been learning how to mix different colours together to make new ones. We have also decorated our own colourful elephants by sticking coloured squares on and also by mark making different patterns. Our song of the week is "One elephant went out to play." We have been showing the amount of elephants on our fingers and then adding on one more to the spiders web as the song develops. We have practised counting by putting small coloured elephants onto a spiders web outline, Some of us have been learning to say the numbers in order when we count, some have been counting the elephants, learning to point carefully at each one and some of us have been recognising numbers and counting out the right number of elephants to match from a larger group. We have some budding Mathematicians in our nursery!
