Literacy and Numeracy Week 5&6

In numeracy we have been working hard on multiplying numbers including decimals by 10, 100 and 1000. This has drawn on our place value, division and multiplication skills and knowledge. We have been revising and extending our knowledge of the formal method for multiplication. We have also been working on applying our addition, subtraction and multiplication skills to a range of reasoning challenges and word problems.
In literacy, we continue to follow the adventures of Alex Rider through our class novel Stormbreaker. We have used the book to initiate discussion and develop our inference and prediction skills. In literacy lessons we have been learning about complex expanded noun phrases. determiners and pronouns. We have also been tackling some tricky texts and refining our reading comprehension skills. The focus over the last couple of weeks has been explanation and inference.
