We have been learning all about forces! We have carried out experiments to test the strengths of different magnets and we have had lots of fun testing the buoyancy of different objects. Our enquiry focus for this term has been observation over time. We have been investigating how bacteria impacts the growth of mould on food.

Science - about forces and reviewing our learning from last half term so we are ready to begin our new topic.
In our summer term we will be learning all about what life is like in the seas and oceans.

We will be learning about :all the different creatures that live under water and learning how to classify them, the layers of the ocean and how they are all different from each other in terms of habitat features and how we can help sea creatures by reducing plastic waste and not polluting the oceans.

​In Science, we continued our learning on Animals including Humans and we looked at different life cycles including; humans, butterfly, chicken and frog. We know that the term ‘metamorphosis’ describes the change from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

Science in CW - Frogspawn

​To help us learn about lifecycles Mrs Watson brought in some frogspawn for us to observe!

We have been carefully watching for any changes over the past few days and have been delighted that some of the frogspawn has hatched!

We have been talking about the lifecycle of frogs and know that a frog lays frogspawn, tadpoles hatch from the eggs, turn into froglets by growing little legs and then turn into frogs. Then the cycle starts again! Some of us have asked to name the tadpoles and wrote a list of what we would like to call them.

​Here we are carefully observing them!

Science in Nursery

​This afternoon, we went on our welly walk to the nature reserve and were surprised to find that there were lots of changes since before Easter and lots more signs of Spring to observe! We saw lots of flowers including blossom, blue bells, cowslips and daffodils. We enjoyed hearing the birds singing in the trees and the children were very excited to see a few butterflies fluttering around.
